Katlyn & Kameran – Shifting Sands
Beautiful Wedding at Shifting Sands:
Katlyn & Kameran had their wedding ceremony and reception at Dam Neck’s Shifting Sands Beach Club in Virginia Beach. This is a great venue, I actually have a few weddings at this very location this wedding season. I love that you can rent out separate beach cottages steps away from the wedding site, it was nice to be able to capture the getting ready photos so close to the venue. We actually started our wedding day getting process at Salon Mosaic in Virginia Beach for hair and makeup and then headed toward the beach. They did such a great job helping the ladies look their best!
We really lucked out because the weather forecast called for rain all day, instead, we had a gorgeous overcast day at the beach… my ideal shooting scenario! Most people think sunny skies are the best and sometimes brides get bummed out because of the clouds, but then I explain that overcast days create the best lighting, it’s like having a giant soft box overhead! That being said, we captured some beautiful portraits at the beach! Katlyn & Kameran wanted to have their first look and go right into wedding party and family photos before the ceremony inside.
I loved all the details that made this day complete, from the cute burlap touches to the chalk board signs and rustic decor, you can tell that the bride put a lot of thought and planning to make this day special. The event continued with a heartfelt wedding ceremony with written vows from the bride and groom. After the ceremony, we went right into the reception and enjoyed the rest of the day with great food, dancing and good times all around. From the conga line that included almost everyone at the reception to the bride smashing the cupcake all over the groom’s face, this group really knew how to have a great time! Congratulations Katlyn & Kameran, thank you for choosing me to be part of your special day!
Special thanks to the all the wedding vendors that made this day complete: Salon Mosaic, David’s bridal, Just Cupcakes, HeyDj, Flowers from Harris Teeter and of course the Shifting Sands Beach Club at Dam Neck.
